Our Edmonton based client is looking to fill a Full time permanent roll of Purchaser.
This position will be responsible for the source, price, and purchase of electrical and instrumentation materials, supplies, and equipment industrial construction and maintenance projects.
Responsibilities include:
Purchase standard materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and service as per corporate specifications and project guidelines
Research materials for price and quality
Provide pricing estimates for project planning requirements
Invite tenders to provide quotations and select appropriate bid
Investigate and resolve issues with internal stakeholders concerning material requests
Maintain relationships with external vendors and establishing relationships with new vendors as required
Meet with vendors or manufacturers to keep current on new products and their uses
Prepare and issue purchase orders
Document purchasing activities to track and report completed purchase requisitions and entering information into accounting system
Coordinate delivery and expedite goods and services in a timely manner
Resolve vendor payment issues with corporate accounts payable departmentRequirements:
Post Secondary Education or industry related experience in the purchasing field, specifically in the electrical and instrumentation field
At least 3 years experience related to purchasing
Currently holds or working towards completion of Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.)
Knowledge of purchasing principles, and fundamentals to effectively negotiate agreements
Demonstrated ability to work with programs in MS Office (Word and Excel)
Strong organizational skills to properly coordinate large volume activities and meet deadlines
Exceptional customer service skills to effective build relationships with both internal/external stakeholders
Solid mathematical and analytical skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with all levels of the organization
Work effectively as a team and the desire to contribute to a long term endeavor
Work hard and have fun while doing it!
