The MSN Branded Entertainment and Experiences team (also known as ?BEET?) is a group of experienced marketing professionals chartered with breaking new ground on MSN by working to understand a brand?s communications strategy and then finding creative and innovative ways to reach their objectives. We have the luxury of creating unique experiences that leverage Microsoft core technologies and MSN editorial assets, funded by the top brand advertisers around the world. We create the kind of work that breaks through the online "clutter" to deliver rewarding experiences for the MSN audience while delivering tangible results for the marketers. You will have end-to-end responsibility for these programs -- from client briefings to creative brainstorming to concept and launch.

As the Senior Brand Strategist assigned to working with the Microsoft brands (ie. Windows, Office, Search?), your role is use the massive reach and creative innovation of MSN around the world to drive results for the biggest consumer marketing/advertising initiatives in the company. Your objective is to grow the Microsoft and MSN businesses together by innovating, learning, and showcasing new forms of Microsoft advertising and technologies while meeting Microsoft advertising goals. You will 1) Lead the strategic partnership and public evangelism of MSFT/MSN digital innovation; 2) Create a breakthrough consumer experiences on MSN which drives Microsoft advertising goals for the Windows Consumer Campaign and additional consumer initiatives; 3) Partner on 1-2 ?industry firsts? via the Emerging Media Trials program & additional opportunities; 4) Lead the BEET team to drive query share for Search to be the fastest growing search engine, and help redefine Search as content. You?ll create highly visible never-been-done-before solutions to these critical business challenges, and by the end of just one year, you?ll have created, shipped, and learned from 3-4 industry-changing programs.

You will have end-to-end responsibility, along with Account Executives, for these programs -- from client briefings to creative brainstorming to negotiation and sales. You'll be surrounded by a supportive and energetic virtual team who are dedicated to helping you create ground-breaking ideas and drive industry-leading solutions.

The Senior Brand Strategist plays an essential role in achieving the teams mission by working with partners in the Corporate Marketing Group, advertising agencies and Product teams, and the BEET team during the ideation, planning and design phases, and owns ?closing the deal? with the agency and client. The detailed implementation of these solutions is then handed over to the Brand Solutions Manager.

A Senior Brand Strategist will be held to a high bar to create new paradigms for online marketing -- the role is not simply about following what others have done, but finding new ways to integrate with MSN's evolving set of products and the sophisticated set of requests that our advertisers are bringing to us. In addition, this position will be responsible for advocating and informing internal groups (lines of business, product teams, etc.) about insights from these programs.

Team/Department Mission

MSN's Branded Entertainment and Experiences (BEET) team is chartered with breaking new ground with the top global advertisers by working closely with them to understand their objectives and then finding new, creative and innovative ways to reach their objectives using MSN/Windows Live/Search technology platforms combined with compelling original content and ideas.

The solutions are custom and are in response to top global advertiser requests that cannot be answered with MSN?s standard product portfolio since they require further ideation and conceptual thought, extra functionality and/or the addition of content.

BEET?s goals are to service these key customer requests, showcase innovation and support the sales organization in their revenue targets. BEET also serves as a catalyst and hotbed for innovation within the MSN Global Content & Programming organization.

The BEET team has been successful in the US region for the last 6 years since its incubation, and two+ years in EMEA. For FY09, we will be closely aligned with the MSN Global Executive Producers to expand our impact across key MSN markets.

Key Accountabilities

The Senior Brand Strategist is expected to collaborate with different teams and clients during the ideation phase using the client brief, creating internal briefs from client sessions, coordination and managing brainstorm sessions. The ideas are expanded, grouped, checked against the brief and the feasibility and then presented to the client.
They should be knowledgeable of US and global markets, trends and marketing campaigns
They should be knowledgeable of MSN/Microsoft?s online digital offerings and be able to tie in new BEET solutions with new product development, where applicable.
They will be skilled in coordinating and collaborating with people across groups and time zones during the ideation phase including next steps and deliverables.
They need to be able to deal with the ambiguity of the pitching process.
They need to proactively see and/or investigate potential red flags which could render an idea unfeasible.
They will have innovative creativity coupled with strong communication skills to incorporate the ideas generated into multiple clear concepts for the clients to choose from.
They should also be confident in presenting to clients with a passion and inspiration.
They may also be required to present internally/externally once the case study is complete.
They will need to collaborate across multiple disciplines: BEET, sales, the design team, product teams, the production team (program management) and trade marketing (for research, case studies and PR).

Key Success Criteria

The Senior Brand Strategist must lead and deliver the solutions in line with the BEET objectives, facilitating a strong relationship between client/agency + MSN that delivers breakthrough results. Your programs should be recognized as digital marketing leadership and innovation at Microsoft.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential Experience
Skills that will important to have mastered in order to be successful in this position include: creativity and traditional marketing know-how, collaboration across a broad group of internal and external groups, a true passion for creating innovative and breakthrough digital experiences for customers and advertisers, polished and exceptionally high-level of verbal/written presentation skills and a genuine customer orientation. Experience working in a worldwide environment showing an understanding of multi-market complexities is helpful. Deep experience with either Microsoft marketing/advertising or the MSN network is desirable.
Technical/Functional Skills
Use of Microsoft Powerpoint and Word. Web-savvy.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has at minimum a bachelor?s degree and is results-driven with a strong creative streak. Candidates should have +8 years marketing experience on either the agency or client side, with a proven track record of innovation and collaboration. You should also have a well-rounded set of experiences that show you know how to apply new and innovative technology to marketing challenges and see those through from start to finish. You should have experience working directly with senior management at top brands and agencies and should feel comfortable holding your own in briefings, brainstorms and pitches. Required Skills:
